Dyeing

Coloring the part.

Safety

Gloves, goggles, and cover-ups must be worn at all times. ONLY ALUMINUM CAN BE IN THE DYE TANK, NO OTHER METALS SHOULD TOUCH THE DYE. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES.

Preparation and Dyeing

  1. Heat the dye solution to 140 oF (60 oC).
  2. Dip the part into the dye solution for 15-20 minutes. Be sure to maintain the dye solution temperature.

Rinsing

Rinse the part in the DI water making sure to remove all of the excess dye.

DO NOT LET THE PART DRY BETWEEN TANKS. THEREFORE, WHILE RINSING, PREPARE FOR THE NEXT STEP.

Storage of Solution

Keep all chemicals separate from one another. Put Dye in PPT 2 containers (Sunny-D).
