Sealing the dye.

Safety

Gloves, goggles, and cover-ups must be worn at all times. ONLY ALUMINUM CAN BE IN THE SEALANT TANK, NO OTHER METALS SHOULD TOUCH THE SEALANT. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES.

Preparation

  1. MAKE SURE THE PART IS SUFFICIENTLY RINSED BEFORE STARTING THIS PROCEDURE. THE SEALANT TRAPS IN EVERYTHING, INCLUDING UNWANTED OILS FROM FINGERS.
  2. Heat the sealant solution to 176 oF (80 oC).

Sealing

  1. Place the part in the sealant for 20 minutes.

Rinsing

Rinse the part in the DI water making sure to remove all of the excess sealant. Dry the part. Anodization is now complete.

Storage of Solution

Keep all chemicals separate from one another. Dispose of the sealant in a proper manner (ask Dionne).
