Materials Needed

  • Food coloring {Purchased 6/29/2011}
    • can be used to test our tubing set-up
    • maybe one color to represent each SDS, saline, and recellularizing media (and blood)
  • More panel mount connectors
    • we never ordered enough for bags
    • we would need more of the ones with the threading for now because multiple bags can be used in one tubing
  • Sensors (see Sensors)
    • pH sensors (include temperature reading) {At meeting on June 22 we decided that we will not actually require pH sensors}
      • 1 for each chamber's trachea 'output' to test when clean of SDS
      • 1 for inside each chamber to confirm sterility
      • 1 for each reservoir to confirm their sterility
        • also will confirm that media are properly heated
    • Temperature sensors
      • if we choose not to use pH sensor in any of above locations, but still want temp.
      • Based on June 22 meeting we will want temperature probes in each of the media reservoirs.
    • Flow sensors
      • we would want to measure the incoming pulmonary media for each lung
      • and measure both 'ingoing' and 'outcoming' trachea media
        • we would need 2 separate sensors placed in opposite directions to measure the ingoing and outcoming
        • we would also need to send the gas tubes through completely different sensors
    • Oxygen Concentration sensors
  • Pump for blood perfusion (MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW: stay updated on the Pumps page)
    • requires 4-8 L/min
  • DUCT TAPE {purchased July 14}
