met with Professor Lima to discuss the details of the project and potential areas of expansion
reviewed previous year's designs and presentation - looked at the mechanics of their hand-held device and the modifications made to the tube caps
assignment for next week: 1) Talk to Sinisa and figure out the necessary changes that must be made to the thickness of the cap so that it functions correctly 2) Conduct FEA (finite element analysis) on a modified design 3) 20 new ways to keep track of tubes 4) Come up with new cap/capper designs in Solidworks 5) talk to previous year's group members to discuss issues/their design
focused on the financial and practical aspect of the project: how much will it cost? will it be worth replacing current lab equipment? is it attractive to researchers/lab workers/professors etc.?
