Continued enclosure design:

  • Using a hose barb through the aluminum plate for the water connection
    • This could reduce the chance of coolant leakage.

Overall the new features that were mentioned as being required are:

  • Reduced vibration
  • Conventient and ease of open and closing of enclosure
  • Laser diode to aid in alignment (precise with direction of actual laser)
  • Enclosure to block light/oil/damage
  • Stand up and bolt in place
  • Keep laser tube positioned inside
  • Place for enclosure to extend to next mirror
  • Ventilation for power supply
  • Indicatior that power is on
  • Safety interlocks/key switch
  • Materials: galvanized steel, anodized aluminum, or PVC?

Presented new ideas that should be added to the current enclosure:

  • Triagonal stabilizer instead of hose clamps to secure the laser tube in place.
  • Legs should be added to ensure stability
  • Vibration dampening with rubber feet or plastic inserts
  • 1/4” tolerance in laser beam alignment
  • Minimize number of axes to ensure reliable alignment
