I am currently pursuing a degree in the Bachelor of Science of Engineering program, but ultimately plan to obtain an mechanical engineering program. As part of the iGem subgroup of the EID 103 spring, I have even working to expand upon the previous work of Cooper and Columbia students as well as to design, prototype, and test my group's electrophoresis chamber. After completing the design process, we determined that our chamber successfully carries out its operations in a cost effective manner. Our design costs about $23 to manufacture before mass production, which is a fraction of the cost of a typical chamber at about 1/20.
