3/11 - Underlying Mechanism planning. Demo of computer monitor image changing apparatus. Extensive research into the possibilities of gear mechanisms. How do we trigger the monitor “image” to change quickly, and have no motion until it changes again?

SPRING BREAK Group meets up and tries to get as much work done as possible in hopes of having less work when end of term comes.

3/21 - Platform. Demo should include housing for figures and moving parts. By now we should now the scaling of our design. Experimentation in laser cutting gears. Underlying mechanism should be fully thought and we should know our method of attack.

3/25 - Focus will be on possible rack and pinion system for the moving Father figure.

4/1 - Laser Cutting begins. Assembly in solidworks is near completion.

4/8 - Design changes to use the laser cutter to create notches in the side walls, platform and base. Using a nut and screw the pieces can be easily assembled and taken apart. This also avoids having to drill into the side of the acrylic and tap each hole (there are about 10) which would have been time consuming.

Pictures of partially assembled automata are uploaded. Gears to the music box mesh and bevel gears turn the secondary shaft. Shoulder Bolts are coming from McMaster soon.
