=====FSAE===== {{ :start:classes:principlesofdesign:joseph_viola:cooper_motorsports_2013_logo_v4_transparent_website.png |}} ====Throttle==== | The throttle is the part of a car which regulates the amount of air flowing into the engine allowing the combustion of fuel. The throttle is connected to the gas pedal and directly controls the power output of the engine. FSAE rules require a throttle to be a purely mechanical design, which makes throttle geometry tricky. The passage through which air flows must open in a way that allows a consistent gain in air flow or else engine feedback is inconsistent and not intuitive for a driver. With the aid Dennis Gavrilov, Noah Dinkes, and Tyler DiStefano, I designed a throttle which could be actuated linearly and allow in air at a linear rate by utilizing the concept of convolution. | ===Throttle Phase 1: EID 101=== [[start:classes:principlesofdesign:ThrottleD5|{{ :start:classes:principlesofdesign:joseph_viola:img_0109.jpg?600x450 | Throttle - EID 101 }}]] //This section is not updated; it only reflects the work done in EID 101, the design course which precedes EID 103// ===Throttle Phase 2: Independent Work=== [[start:classes:principlesofdesign:ThrottleUpdate|{{ :start:classes:principlesofdesign:joseph_viola:assembly_unjazzified.jpg?600x450 | Throttle - Where the throttle is now }}]] //This section is updated as the throttle evolves//
