====== Allograft Preservation 2012 Minutes ====== ===== January, 2012 ===== ==== 01/27/12 ==== Had first meeting with Prof. Lima Heard about current progress of the project and received several possible objectives Decided to consider several improvements to the current preservation system * The mount system that presents stored organs in easily accessible manner * A system to indicate freezing during transport * comprehensive monitoring system that allows an operator to manage multiple preservation chambers. ===== February, 2012 ===== ==== 02/01/12 ==== Had group meeting after EID103 class session to discuss individual sketches and decide group's best idea sketches Discussed about strengths and weaknesses of our individual drawings Brainstormed ideas about our future design and made certain objectives Finished group sketches ==== 02/3/12 ==== Finished group sketches. ==== 02/8/12 ==== Meeting with Prof. Lima. Discussed about the goals for the next few weeks. Set up meeting with Daniel Gitzel. ==== 02/10/12 ==== Meeting with Daniel Gitzel: - Daniel designed and programmed a pump system using a diaphragm pump, peristaltic pump, and arduino - During the meeting: * Daniel gave us all the documentation from his work * He showed us where all the necessary parts were * Explained briefly how the system work and provided tips and important information regarding its operation - It was realized that the interface the system was designed for (specifically for the peristaltic pump) would have to be modified as we now will be using a different input pump for the fluid. Therefore the system will have to be adjusted to fit the new interface. ==== 02/13/12 ==== - General Meeting: - Progress and goals were discussed - Draft of problem statement was created - Timeline was worked on ==== 02/15/12 ==== - General Meeting: - Progress and Goals were discussed - Verify Impulse Sealer Works - Find another peristaltic pump (for input of fluid) in the school - Find a container large enough for a knee (human fist) - Design tubing from IV bag to pump system tubes - After some trials we figured out a method for the successful sealing of the IV bag after the Allograft Tissue is placed inside (Set impulse sealer dial at 8 and quickly press it firmly 3 times) - We discussed how the tubing might work from pumps to bag ==== 02/22/12 ==== -Successfully operated the pump system comprised of a peristaltic pump, a diaphragm pump, amd four chambers with manually caliberated pump rates. -decided to use Tupperware to make preservation chambers for testing ==== 02/23/12 ==== -First design on IV bag with input and output valves -we can control flow directly ==== 02/24/12 ==== -IV bag passed the No Leak Test. -Met with Daniel Gitzel. -Worked on putting the pump system together. ==== 02/27/12 ==== -Met with Prof. Lima. Talked about purchasing media bags and containers. Discussed about which tubing size is ideal for the project.
