====== Cleaning ====== A part must be cleaned before it can be anodized (or re-anodized). ===== Safety ===== Gloves, goggles, and cover-ups must be worn at all times ===== Preparation ===== - Clean the part with hot tap water and soap. - Place the Cleaner 740 solution into the large glass beaker and heat to 140 degrees Farenheit (60 degrees centigrade) - Pour enough DI water into a plastic bucket so that the part will be fully submerged. ===== Cleaning Solution ===== Place the part into the solution for 5 minutes or more. The part should bubble during this time as grime, oil, and polish comes off. ===== Rinsing ===== Rinse the part in the DI water making sure to remove all of the cleaner. DO NOT LET THE PART DRY BETWEEN TANKS. THEREFORE, WHILE RINSING, PREPARE FOR THE NEXT STEP. ===== Storage of Solution ===== Keep all chemicals separate from one another. The solution may be used repeatedly (up to 100 runs), so cool and store in a chemical container. ===== Next Step: ===== [[start:classes:materialsscience:anodizing:Anodizing:start|Anodizing]]
